Olive Oil Popcorn Recipe

Here’s my twist on the classic movie munchie. I enjoy popping loose kernels in a large pot in olive oil just to give it a slight taste of the oil flavour, and then I usually toss it with a tad more olive oil seasoned with salt & pepper.

Olive Oil Popcorn Recipe:

Ingredients:

Equipment:

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your pot over somewhat high heat –but not too hot as you don’t want your oil to burn.
  2. Add the olive oil and the kernels, uncovered.
  3. Shake the pot a few times to evenly distribute the kernels and properly coat them in the oil.
  4. Once the first few kernel start to pop, cover the pot.
  5. Listen to the popping. When it slows to a pops  or tewoa second, remove from the heat and into your bowl.
  6. Toss with a little salt & black pepper and drizzle with more olive oil. Serve.

Of course you can add your own toppings, a few I recommend are: Parmigiano-Reggiano, nutmeg, chili powder, curry powder or any other fragrant spice combo really.

    I couldn’t write a message on G+, so I’ll do it here. :P

That’s how I do it. Sometimes I use bacon fat, but normally I use olive oil.

Thanks. Also, bacon fat –how have I never thought of that? :D

It’s epic. Bacon make everything better.

My dream popcorn is made with bacon fat and very little pieces of bacon embedded on the pop corn pieces. Like those poppy cock things they sell.

        Oh god! I’m salivating!

Parmigiano-Reggiano is currently my favourite cheese.
